Arrive early for a continental breakfast at the lodge, then we will lead your vehicle out to the blind. You and your group will have your own blind (up to 4 people) on your own pond for your self-guided hunt. Return for a hot meal in front of the roaring fire, and your afternoon may be spent pheasant, goose, or dove hunting if in season before departing for home.
You’ll arrive the evening prior to your hunt to a home-cooked dinner and dessert. Enjoy friendly conversation around the fire or television throughout the evening. The following day of hunting is just like the Day Hunt above, but more relaxing. Roll out of bed just in time for a hot breakfast then out to the blind for a day of hunting. For more lodging questions, see FAQs below.
No, our Day Hunt and Overnight Hunts are an opportunity for you to get out on prime hunting property for a self-guided hunt. While we do have blinds ready for you at individual ponds, you bring your own decoys and dog, gun, and gear to enjoy your own hunting experience.
No, we do not have members. Hunting at The Teal Lodge is priced as individual hunts or multi-hunt packages reserved in advance.
We have a detailed gear list for both overnight and day hunters of the gear recommended for your hunt.
Included on the 1000 acre property are over 20 ponds with cattails and cottonwoods, covering over 580 acres surrounded by rolling sand hills of native sage and irrigated cropland. This prairie habitat sits on the eastern plains of Colorado at an elevation of 4,400 feet.
When making your initial reservation, please reserve for all people in your group, including youth and non-hunters. For last-minute additions, please contact us about availability as daily space is limited and the season regularly sells out.
Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements to see if our setup can meet your needs. Our large blinds are accessible from the road, so getting there is easy. No walking through water is required to get in.
The Teal Lodge is a privately owned and operated family business.
We aim to have about 10 hunters (4-5 blinds) reserved for each hunting day. This allows us to spread out groups of hunters and rotate ponds depending on where the birds are each week. Pricing is per person, so singles are welcome and will be placed in their own blind.
We aim to have about 10 hunters (4-5 blinds) reserved each hunting day. We do work with large groups to schedule exclusive use hunts for up to 10 guests. These hunts need to be booked prior to the seasonal reservations, so please contact us in July (or earlier) to arrange your exclusive group hunt.
Our schedule of hunts is set after the state releases the hunting schedule. This generally includes Saturday and Wednesday hunts. Please see our current schedule of hunts updated each season.
Having a dog for flushing upland birds or retrieving ducks is helpful, but not necessary. Many of our ponds are shallow enough to access with chest waders (hip waders not recommended).
We do see some extreme weather in eastern Colorado, and when the temperatures dip below zero, our ponds freeze up fast. As a result, we typically limit hunting reservations to the first split of duck season.
We do not have regular public hours, but instead open the property during our hunting and private events. Property access is limited to participants of these scheduled events and reserved hunting dates. As a working year-round farm, for the safety of our visitors, access to the property on non-event days is by appointment only.
Property Use for Dog Training
Training before or after club competitions is dependent on several factors, including upcoming events on the property and the rules of the club concerning ground use prior to the event. Please contact us regarding your specific request.
Our lodge is a 3000 sq. foot log cabin that sleeps up to 10 guests in a bunkhouse-style lodge. Three bedrooms offer shared sleeping quarters with twin bunkbeds. There are 2 full bathrooms with shower/tubs, and fresh towels and linens are provided.
There are 3 bunk rooms with shared sleeping quarters.
We do not offer camper/trailer facilities at our location. However, prime camping facilities are just a few miles away at Jackson Lake State Park.
Packages & Pricing
We offer both Overnight and Day Hunts for individuals and small groups. Prior to the season, we offer the purchase of multi-hunt packages at a discount over our individual prices. These 4-hunt packages can be used in any combination, whether it’s an individual coming out 4 times, or a group of 4 hunters on a single hunt. Please visit our Hunting page for a full description of what is included with a Day and Overnight hunt.
We do offer special pricing for youth and non-hunting guests. Please contact us for pricing and be sure to include these guests in your initial reservation as space is limited and often sells out.
We do work with large groups to schedule exclusive use hunts for up to 10 guests. These hunts need to be booked prior to the seasonal reservations, so please contact us in July (or earlier) to arrange your exclusive group hunt.
We typically begin taking reservations for the hunting season at the beginning of August after the state has set the waterfowl season dates. If you’d like to be among the first to hear of our season, please join our mailing list using the link at the bottom of the website.
Once you have chosen an open date (via phone or email), we will send out electronic invoices and confirmation details. We ask that all hunts are paid for in advance, as spots are limited and our season usually sells out early.
